A heritage treasure

Two centuries were necessary to build the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, which partly explains its fabulous architectural richness. Combining the primitive Gothic and radiant Gothic styles, the building in the shape of a Roman cross is first admired from the outside. Each sculpture, each stained glass window, each detail invites wonder. Great attention is paid, of course, to the famous gargoyles of Notre-Dame, dating from the 13th century. And how, again, not to be amazed in front of the rosettes of the transept, the sixteen bells ...?

Inside, the visit inevitably goes through the 76 paintings of the Brotherhood of Goldsmiths, the choir and, of course, the Grand Organ and the organs. It is in the sacristy of the chapter that the visitor can discover the treasure of Notre-Dame de Paris, including the Holy Crown of thorns and a fragment of the cross of Christ.

Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral is also a place of pilgrimage and meditation with free participation in liturgical ceremonies.

Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral was very badly damaged by a fire on Monday, April 15, 2019, you too, participate in its renovation. To do this, go to the cathedral's official website.
