The Louvre Museum is an exceptional artistic place. On the right bank of the Seine, the former royal palace of Charles V invites you to discover some 35,000 works, in three wings and on several levels.
If the painting department, with its 3,400 paintings sweeping pictorial art from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, is undoubtedly the most successful, the spans of the royal castle offer many other riches: oriental, Egyptian antiquities , Greek, Etruscan and Roman; Islamic arts; sculptures; graphic arts…
To the permanent collections are added temporary exhibitions. The Museum's website also offers you to choose and your route, whether you prefer to discover French painting, to miss none of the museum's masterpieces, to rub shoulders with the demons and geniuses of Mesopotamia or to go on a "hunt to the lions ". Numerous guided tours, led by lecturers from the National Museums, are also available, for visiting masterpieces.
