What to do if...?

You have lost or found an item on a train or at a train station, you are travelling with a bike or you wish to take your pet along with you.

Lost Property Office

You have lost an item whilst on a train or at the train station
You can go to the Lost Property Office of the particular main line train station in Paris connected with your journey (Paris Austerlitz, Paris Lyon, Paris Est, Paris Nord, Paris Saint-Lazare, Paris Montparnasse)

You have found an item

If you find an item at a train station or whilst travelling on a train, make sure you hand it over to an SNCF officer.
A receipt will be issued upon request.

Custody of Lost Property Items

Items considered to be valueless or of little value will be destroyed (used clothes, old umbrellas, etc.).
All other items will be kept for 30 days.
During this period, they may be returned to the rightful owner subject to payment of a fee of 9 Euro.
Once this time limit has expired, they will be transferred to state property department authorities.

You are travelling with a bike

Except at the following times, you are allowed to take your bike on all Transilien network trains and no excess fare applies:
· Between 6am-9am on inbound services for Paris
· Between 4.30pm and 7pm on outbound services from Paris
· Between 6am-9am and 4.30pm and 7pm on A and B RER services, in both directions.

You are travelling with your pet

Dogs and small pets are allowed to travel with you unless other passengers object.
Dogs must be kept on a leash and muzzled.
Small pets must be placed in a container not exceeding 45 cm.

Transport is :
- Free for small pets placed in a container,
- Charged at half-price for dogs on a leash.
On buses, underground train services and on trams, only "guide dogs" are permitted to travel.
