The Impressionist collection of the Marmottan Monet Museum is extremely comprehensive and is very representative of the movement as a whole. The museum holds over three hundred paintings, pastel drawings, watercolours and sculptures from artists who were members of the group, or who joined it later. From Impression, soleil levant to the "Nymphéas, Claude Monet takes us on a journey along the coast of Normandy, to Argenteuil or to London. He took a great deal of his inspiration from his garden at Giverny: water lilies, irises, Japanese bridges, avenues of rose bushes all form a central part of his work. |
