JARDIN DES PLANTES

Whether you are a child, a scientist or just out for a stroll, you will find true happiness at the Jardin des Plantes. Exploring the site is akin to a treasure hunt. Flower beds and buildings come together to recount the history of the natural sciences.

The whole of the Gardens and everything within the outer walls is now listed as a Historical Monument.
The menagerie has been preserved in its original condition. It contains no less than 4,500 sq m of luxuriant greenery, home to around a thousand animals.

Jardin des plantes
The Grande Galerie de l’Evolution (Grand Gallery of Evolution) displays thousands of animal specimens. Looking almost more alive than the real things, they tell the fascinating story of evolution.
Meteorites, minerals and fabulous crystals: the Galerie de Minéralogie et de Géologie (Mineralogy and Geology Gallery) houses a collection which is one of the most venerable in the world.
The Galeries de Paléontologie et d’Anatomie Comparée (Palaeontology and Comparative Anatomy Galleries) give you a glimpse of how the animals and other creatures of the past were organised.
