This castle belonged to Nicolas Fouquet, a Minister of Louis XIV, and it is said that it served as the inspiration for Versailles. Come to Vaux-le-Vicomte and discover an entirely furnished château, a Musée des équipages (Horse Harness Museum) and the magnificent formal gardens designed by Le Nôtre. A visit to the château and its numerous rooms will reveal to you all the splendours of the 17th century: on the ground floor, the splendid drawing rooms, the private studies, the Dining Hall and the Dresser Hall, on the first floor, the bedrooms and apartments, and in the basement, the kitchens and the cellars. |
